My Bulletproof Routine - What's Yours?

How bulletproof is your morning routine?

By this I mean do you get up each day and structure your morning so you are able to get up and conquer the day. Bulletproofing your morning routine will lead to building self-discipline and consistency over time.

I’m going to share with you my view on building a solid morning routine. First of all when I get up, I brush my teeth (I’m sure we will all start the day this way haha!), then it’s straight to lacing up my trainers and hitting the road for a 5k run, it’s important to get oxygen into the body and get the blood flowing, and I feel this is the best way to do this. Sometimes the run can be painful and I may not feel like doing it, but trust me get out there and get it done! You will feel great afterwards. 😃

After this I’ll throw myself into a cold shower, this is challenging when you first start but it gets easier after a few attempts. Cold exposure has a positive impact on the body, when doing this in the morning you increase alertness, clarity and energy levels! The brain also releases endorphins, which are hormones that lead to a sense of feeling happy, reduced stress levels and will overall improve your well-being.

Next I’ll start brewing my coffee, I choose to have black coffee in the mornings as it’s a healthier option and keeps the body in a fasted state, in comparison to having a milky coffee with sugar. Black coffee is the way forward as it will help to burn calories and keep you in a fasted state!

Before starting work I will journal, I write in my journal each morning with three things I’m grateful for. This allows me to appreciate what I have and also those closest to me. Showing gratitude daily helps reduce stress and makes you truly appreciate everything you have in life and where you currently are on your journey in life. I will also write down some random thoughts that I may be thinking that morning, followed by one or two small daily goals. Writing down my daily goals helps me free up thinking space and allows me to work towards my bigger goals. So far I found that journalling has had a positive effect on my life and is helping me stay consistent to get closer to achieving my goals.

Meditation - this is something I’ve only started to explore, I find that it really relaxes me. I currently use insight timer which is an app for guided meditation. You only need to allow for five minutes in a quiet place to get started. There are many benefits to practicing daily meditation. A few of these benefits include, building skills to manage stress, focusing on the present, increasing imagination, creativity and increasing self-awareness. As I continue with this I will share any useful tips or recommendations along the way. If you go ahead and decide to give it a go, let me know how it goes.

Here is a summery of my bulletproof routine, which will hopefully inspire you to create yous!

Finally, remember we are all different, so what might work for me may not work for you. I’m interested to hear what your morning routine is because it will enable me to improve my own and hopefully inspire others. If you currently do any of the above that are mentioned in the list, let me know how they benefit you either by DM or replying to this newsletter and if the above list doesn’t apply to you start to implement one or two of the following. Once you’ve been doing this for a few weeks let me know if they’ve had a positive impact on your life.

If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to reply to this newsletter or drop me a DM on twitter.

Any feedback will be much appreciated.
